Fairtrade

Most major supermarkets have a range of Fairtrade products. There are also many independent stores exclusively stocking similar goods. Unfortunately, we don't always get a fair trade. I have to confess that I have been conned in the past in pursuit of a noble cause. I purchased a jar of Fairtrade coffee at an inflated price, only to find that it tasted like top soil. How is this a fair trade?

However, after a little more thought, I've come to realise that we did probably swap the country of the peasant farmer that produced the aforementioned crap for a string of beads and a looking glass. Perhaps the fair trade is just them getting their own back.

  1. I have my doubts about the hygiene of their products. Most of their workers don't look like they are very familiar with soap.

  4. It's always overpriced. I'll stick with the supermarket home brands.

  11. Fairtrade is a load of tosh. It is usually overpriced and I have doubts as to where the money ends up.
